Our Mold Remediation Process

Our mold remediation process follows ANSI/IICRC S520 industry standards. We use a clear, step-by-step workflow: we start with inspection and planning, then set up containment and HEPA filtration, safely remove contaminated materials, treat affected areas, and complete any needed repairs or restoration. 01. Mold Inspection And Initial Assessment

We begin with a visual assessment of accessible areas and document visible conditions and moisture readings. Based on what can be observed and accessed, we outline a written scope of work that defines the remediation approach. If additional diagnostics or sampling may be helpful for documentation, we can recommend them, but they are not included unless explicitly added.

02. Containment And Setup

Mold inspection and mold testing are early stages of the remediation process. With the mold mitigation specialist inspection, we plan the scope and activities for the mold removal. Mold testing can confirm the presence of mold that is not visible and verify that there is a mold problem.

03. Air Filtration And Environmental Controls

Mold can only grow where there is moisture to feed it. Before a successful mold remediation that will prevent mold from growing again in the future, the source of the moisture must be addressed and repaired.

04. Material Removal And Controlled Access

Preparing the work area is probably the most important thing we do, because it is the only way to make sure that mold isn't spread throughout your house during cleanup. We set up a containment area and put it under negative pressure. Air scrubbers for HEPA filtering are set up as well.

05. Detailed Cleaning

Some types of materials can be cleaned of mold, but some can't. We remove moldy building materials like sheetrock, insulation, and wallpaper that are porous and can't be cleaned. As always, we act in accordance with safety protocols for proper disposal.

06. Targeted Drying And Moisture Stabilization

At this stage, we begin the mold removal process. We remove the mold from non-porous surfaces by cleaning them carefully, and then we sanitize them with anti-microbial solutions to make sure that we kill any remaining mold spores that escaped our cleaning.

07. Post-Remediation Walkthrough And Documentation

XX This is an evaluation of all affected areas to determine that the mold has been completely removed. If clearance testing is performed, it should be done before removing any containment or shutting down any air filtering devices being used.

08. Rebuild And Restoration (Where Available)

In some areas, FDP Mold Remediation also provides restoration and rebuild for your property. Once remediation and any required clearance are complete, our crews rebuild the affected areas, including new drywall and insulation, trim and baseboards, repaired or replaced flooring, and fresh paint and finishes, so your property is fully put back together in one coordinated project.

What To Do About Suspected Mold Until Help Arrives

If You Are Seeing Visible Growth Or Suspect Mold In One Area, The Goal Is Simple:

Avoid Spreading Debris, Avoid Disturbing Materials, And Address Active Moisture If It Is Safe To Do So.

What to do

A.Limit air movement in the affected area:

If possible, avoid running fans that push air across the area. If the HVAC is moving air directly through the affected space, consider turning it off until the area can be assessed.

B.Keep the area closed off:

Restrict access for kids and pets. If the mold is in a single room, closet, or cabinet, close the door to help limit spread.

C.Stop active water if it is safe:

If there is an obvious, safe-to-access source (like a running supply line under a sink), shut it off to prevent additional wetting. Ongoing leak repair is outside remediation, but stopping active water can reduce further damage.

D.Take a few photos from a distance:

A wide shot of the room and a close-up of the area can help during scheduling and assessment. Avoid getting close enough to disturb materials.
