This project began when the customer contacted FDP Mold Remediation of Baltimore about visible mold in the basement. She originally wanted to understand testing and inspection options and mentioned that photos had already been reviewed by another mold specialist.
Because visible mold was already present, the next step was an on-site assessment to review the basement conditions in person and define the remediation work needed. The affected work area was later identified around the foundation wall, framing under the steps, and baseboard materials.
Before mold remediation began, the customer also raised a concern about a frozen sump pump pipe in the basement. The sump pump had been unplugged because of the frozen pipe, and the customer was concerned that the pit could continue filling as ice melted.
This drainage concern needed to be reviewed before setup because the remediation equipment and active work area would limit normal access to parts of the basement during the service period.
The main challenge was completing targeted basement remediation while keeping equipment placement, material removal, cleaning, encapsulation, debris handling, and closeout organized across the 3-day service window.
By the end of the project, the affected basement areas had been addressed according to the defined remediation plan. Baseboards were removed where needed, the foundation wall sections and framing under the steps were cleaned, and treated areas were encapsulated with mold-blocking primer.
Two HEPA 500 CFM air scrubbers and one LGR dehumidifier operated in the basement throughout the 3-day service period. Debris was removed and the work area was cleaned.
This basement mold remediation project on West Randall Street in Baltimore required a targeted response under the steps and along the foundation wall. The work also included a pre-work review of the customer's sump pump and basement drainage concern before the remediation setup began.
The FDP Mold Remediation team completed the planned baseboard removal, mold treatment, air scrubbing, dehumidification, cleaning, encapsulation, debris handling, equipment pickup, and closeout.
