What to Expect During Mold Abatement
Our method for removing mold at FDP Mold Remediation is systematic and designed to address mold completely. We are very careful to find mold in indoor spaces, contain it, remove it, and prevent it from coming back. As we go through the mold removal process, let's do it step by step:
- Inspection and Evaluation: Our trained experts will carefully examine the area with moisture meters and other tools to find out what's wet - the water sources that allow mold to grow. They will not leave any stone unturned (or surface unchecked). In the event that mold is not visible, professional mold testing can confirm whether mold growth is an issue.
- Planning: Once mold growth is confirmed, our experts plan out what actions will be needed for complete mold abatement. We present the plan, including costs, to the client for approval.
- Containment: Our team will quarantine the area affected by mold growth, separating it from the rest of the structure with plastic sheets, create a sealed area with negative air pressure, and even use high-tech air scrubbers to get rid of airborne spores. Our contractors put on full-body suits with masks, gloves, and everything else to protect themselves from mold.
- Physical Mold Removal: We use methods and products that have been established by the industry to carefully clean and scrub surfaces that are affected. Porous materials, like drywall, can't be cleaned; guidance says it must be cut out and discarded. We clean and disinfect the area well to make sure it stays mold-free after the mold is gone.
- Drying Wet Areas: Additionally, we will dry and dehumidify the area to stop mold growth in the future.
After we've done our job, we need to do one last check to ensure we've gotten rid of the mold. If the moisture problem that allowed mold to grow is not resolved, the mold will return.
Our services include documentation of the abatement work performed, as well as any lab reports from testing.
